Project 6

I've been working on this for a few days now and forgot to post about it!  I want to get one more environment into my portfolio, one that can show off an art style closer to realism.

This is one of the older challenges on Polycount, but it seems small enough to finish in a reasonable amount of time.  I still want to squeeze in a weapon and an exterior structure into my portfolio by the end of the year.

I've been getting into Substance Painter, which is fantastic.

Mini Project Complete

Alright, I feel like moving on to bigger and better things.  This probably won't go into my portfolio, but it was fun to work on for a few days.  As you can see, I decided to keep the textures quite simple.

If the teeth don't make sense, you should re-watch the episode!  Season 2, episode 4

September 8

Didn't get much done over the weekend, but this is basically all of the HP content for the project aside from a resting surface.  I revisited the F-Ray and softened up some of the edges so the normal map would bake better, but the final shot will be pretty close up so making sure everything is soft isn't really a big deal.

Mini Project

Hey hey, it's been a couple weeks.  I had a few days off, then a birthday, then I was stewing around with what to do next.  I went through a few things that I really wasn't feeling inspired to do, so I scrapped it all.  So, until my next big project, I'm going to do some smaller stuff.

Next up is the F Ray.  You know, that flashlight-looking thing from Futurama?  Here's my bland reference, and the high poly I knocked out in a few hours:

Eventually I'm going to run it through DDO and possibly hand paint it.
