July 24

I'm almost done!  Today I'm working on raw and refined ores.  Below is a rock model with interchangeable shaders for multiple metallic/stone effects:



Left to right, top to bottom:  Copper, Gold, Iron, Obsidion, Platinum, Quicksilver, Silver, Moss Agate

July 15/16

Had some client work lately, hence the slow updates.  Here's another stone formation, with no, flaky, and veiny mineral deposits.  I'm not entirely satisfied with the veiny deposits, it kind of looks like the rock is covered in ketchup haha.  I'll tweak it later.  I just want to move on to other things right now.



I worked on getting all the tools prepped for texturing.  Got a perfect normal bake first go as usual, so I went ahead and combined all the maps and set it up in Unity.  I'll work on either these or a different rock formation tomorrow.

Working on getting the textures finalized for this particular formation.  This one is Small, Rounded, with Flaky Copper.  I'll soon be coming out with Large Rounded, Small Layered, Large Layered, Small Jagged, and Large Jagged formations.

More rock studies!  These are larger, eroded stones, likely found in grassland or forest biomes; boulders which have been above ground for some time and exposed to the elements.

Back to Business

Well that was a fun bit of time off!  I  got lots of stuff organized, lots of ends tied off, and lots of games played.  But now it's back to work!  I have mostly decided on my next two portfolio pieces, one of which will be for the Unity Asset Store, the other will be a small stage for a game prototype I've had rattling around for a while.  More updates to come when I get some pictures.

July 1

So, I'm still on my break until Friday/Saturday.  But in case you didn't know, I sort of have a hobby in MEL scripting.  I'm completely self-taught and I'm not the best by any means, but it's fun and challenging for me; not to mention knowing some scripting has drastically improved my work flow and efficiency.

I've got a handful of MEL projects in the works at this moment, but there's one specifically I'm trying to get out ASAP.  Without going into things, this particular script basically keeps track of animations and lets you instantly jump to them whenever you need.
