Project 1 Complete!
One of two or three boulders I'll be using to make the majority of the walls and ceilings. Once I get the normal bakes out of the way I will return to texture everything and add additional details, like cracks and other marks.
Top: zbrush sculpt
Bottom: low poly + normal map
Looking good Dennis. Your boulder has several sharp lines that define "faces" which lends an assumption the material was worked by human hands. If you were going for a completely natural boulder, you'd have to smooth out nearly all of them. The only sharp lines come from certain types of stone (slate, obsidian) at fracture lines; otherwise the material is smoothed out from erosion.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm still trying to get away from that artificial look. I'll do more studies soon.
